You can use this procedure to make an additional telephony service provider available to your telephony service clients.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To add a telephony service provider on a telephony client
  1. Open Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel.

  2. On the Advanced tab, click Add.

  3. In the Add Provider dialog box, under Telephony providers, click the service provider, then click Add.

If the telephony service provider that you want to add does not appear in this list, you must install the appropriate driver files for the telephony service provider.

Additional considerations
  • In order for telephony clients to find the telephony service providers on a telephony server, they must be configured to find the server. For more information see Specify Telephony Servers on a Telephony Client.

  • This procedure only adds telephony service providers that are already installed on your hard drive in the %Systemroot%\system32 folder. Use the setup or installation program provided by the hardware manufacturer to install the driver files for a new telephony service provider.

  • The setup program of a hardware manufacturer typically adds the new telephony service provider to the list on the Advanced tab of Phone and Modem Options. If a telephony service provider is not listed on the Advanced tab after you run the setup program, use this procedure to add the service provider. If it is not listed in the Add Provider dialog box, see documentation from the hardware manufacturer for further instructions.
