If a message is being delivered to a local recipient, it is moved from the Queue directory to the Drop directory designated for the default domain. After the message is deposited in the Drop directory, the SMTP delivery cycle is finished. You can designate the Drop directory in the Default Domain dialog box. The process flow is shown in Figure 1.

Important:
Figure 1 omits the recommended presence of one or more firewalls between the Internet and the SMTP server.
