You can configure Windows System Resource Manager to send e-mail notifications when specified events are written to the event log.
Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

Open Windows System Resource Manager. To open Windows System Resource Manager, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Windows System Resource Manager.

In the Connect to Computer dialog box, select This computer, and then click Connect.

In the console tree, right-click Windows System Resource Manager (Local), and then click Properties.

In the Windows System Resource Manager Properties dialog box, on the Notification tab, select the Enable e-mail notification check box.

In the Notify these e-mail aliases box, type your e-mail address, including the domain name (for example, netadmin@contoso.com).
Note To add multiple e-mail addresses to be notified, separate the addresses with a semi-colon.

In the Use this SMTP server box, type the NetBIOS name or the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server.

Under Select the event log messages, select one or more events. To view the list of events, expand Error, Warning, or Information.
- When you select Error, Warning,
or Information, all the individual events in that category
are included.
- To clear all the individual events in a
category, select the category again.
- To select individual events, expand the
category, and then select the events.
- When you select Error, Warning,
or Information, all the individual events in that category
are included.

When you are finished selecting events, click OK.
