When you create a virtual machine, you can store the user name and password so that you can be logged on automatically to the virtual machine. If you no longer want to store the existing credentials, you can delete them. For example, if your current credentials expire or change, delete the old credentials. When there are no saved credentials, you are given the option of saving the current credentials each time you log on to the virtual machine.

Any application that runs on the host in the context of the user logged on to the host can access the credentials stored for Windows XP Mode. When the guest operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 7, only local user credentials will be accessible.

To delete saved credentials
  1. Open the settings for the virtual machine. To do this, do one of the following:

    • In the Virtual Machines folder, right-click the name of the virtual machine, and then click Settings.

    • From the virtual machine window, click the Tools menu, and then click Settings.

  2. In the left pane, click Logon Credentials.

Credentials are deleted when you click Delete saved credentials. You cannot click Cancel to undo the deletion.

  3. In the right pane, click Delete saved credentials.

  4. Click OK.
