You can use Share and Storage Management to allocate more storage space for an existing volume by extending it.
Extending a volume requires the following:
- If the volume was created on a local
disk:
- The disk that hosts the volume must have free
space available.
- There cannot be another volume on the disk
located immediately after the volume that you want to extend (that
is, the volume to extend must be the last volume on the disk).
- The disk that hosts the volume must have free
space available.
- If the volume was created on a storage
subsystem:
- If the LUN that the volume resides on needs
to be extended, free space must be available on the subsystem.
- The volume must be the last partition on the
LUN, or the LUN immediately following the volume to be extended
must have non-allocated free space available.
- If the LUN that the volume resides on needs
to be extended, free space must be available on the subsystem.

On the Volumes tab, click the volume that you want to extend.

In the Actions pane, click Extend.

In the Extend Volume dialog box, specify the new size, and then click OK.
Additional considerations
- If the volume was created on a storage
subsystem, extending the volume automatically extends the LUN
associated with the volume, if necessary.
- To open Share and Storage Management, click
Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click
Share and Storage Management.
