You can use Share and Storage Management to allocate more storage space for an existing volume by extending it.

Extending a volume requires the following:

Membership in Administrators, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review details about using the appropriate accounts and group memberships at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=83477.

To extend a volume
  1. On the Volumes tab, click the volume that you want to extend.

  2. In the Actions pane, click Extend.

  3. In the Extend Volume dialog box, specify the new size, and then click OK.

Additional considerations

  • If the volume was created on a storage subsystem, extending the volume automatically extends the LUN associated with the volume, if necessary.

  • To open Share and Storage Management, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Share and Storage Management.
