With Microsoft iSCSI Software Target, you can make a snapshot available on remote computers by using the Export Snapshot Wizard. Using the wizard, you can export the snapshot to one or more iSCSI targets. After you export a snapshot, it appears on the iSCSI initiator as a local disk with read-only access, and it can be mounted using a drive letter. This is useful for making files available to users for a short period of time, such as might be required for search and recovery of a specific file.
In a clustered environment, the snapshot must be exported to targets belonging to the same resource group as the virtual disk. For more information about setting up clustering, see Configuring iSCSI Storage for High Availability.
When the remote copy is no longer needed, you can remove it by removing iSCSI target access from the snapshot. For more information about removing iSCSI target access, see Removing iSCSI Target Access to a Virtual Disk.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure. Review the details in "Additional considerations" in this topic.

In Microsoft iSCSI Software Target, in the console tree, double-click Snapshots, and then click Active Snapshots.

In the results pane, right-click the snapshot you want to export, and then click Export Snapshot.
