Use the options in the Relay Restrictions dialog box to limit relay access through the SMTP virtual server by client IP address or domain name. By default, only authenticated users can relay mail. You can grant relay access to all computers and then make exceptions to this rule by denying relay access to specific computers. Also, if you deny relay access to all computers, you still can grant relay access to specific computers.

Be aware that if your virtual server is on the Internet, we do not recommend relaying. If you enable relaying, the virtual server might be used to propagate unsolicited commercial e-mail or spam.

The following options are available.

Select which computer may relay through this virtual server

Select from one of the following options to control relay access through this virtual server:

  • Only the list below   Select this option to deny relay access to all connections except the specific IP addresses and domains that you add to the Computers table.

  • All except the list below   Select this option to grant relay access to all connections except the specific IP addresses and domains that you add to the Computers table.

Computers

The Computers table lists the IP addresses and domains to which you have specifically granted or denied relay access. The Access column displays either Granted or Denied next to an IP address or domain. The IP Address (Mask) / Domain Name column identifies the IP addresses and domain names to which you have specifically granted or denied access.

Select from the following options to modify the Computers table:

  • Add Click Add to open the Computer dialog box and grant access or deny access to a specific IP address, IP address range, or domain name.

  • Remove Select an entry in the Computers table and then click Remove to delete that IP address or domain entry.

Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above

This check box is selected by default. This option enables relaying by anyone who is granted access to this virtual server by using their authentication credentials.
