When you are using IIS 7, you can still manage remote Web servers that are running IIS 6.0 on Windows Server 2003. The IIS Manager MMC snap-in that you used in IIS 6.0 is available on IIS 7. Use the following procedure to install the IIS Manager snap-in.

Procedure

Install IIS Manager

  1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

  2. Do one of the following:

    1. On the Classic View, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

    2. On the Control Panel Home view, in the Programs category, click Add a program.

  3. In the left pane of the Add a Program page, click Advanced Options, and then click Windows Features.

  4. In the Turn Windows features on or off dialog box, expand Componentized IIS Web Server.

  5. Click Web Server Management Tools, click IIS 6 Management Compatibility, select IIS 6 Management Console, and then click OK.
