Registry Match Targeting

Match type

Criteria by which to evaluate a registry value or key:

• Key exists: Allows the preference item to be applied if the specified registry key exists.
  
  
• Value exists: Allows the preference item to be applied if the specified registry value exists.
  
  
• Match value data: Allows the preference item to be applied if the specified registry value exists and matches the specified value.
  
  Value data match type: Allows the preference item to be applied if:
  
  
  • Any: The registry value exists and matches the specified value.
    
    
  • Substring match: The registry value exists and contains the specified substring.
    
    
  • Version match: The string version number found in the registry value specified falls within the range specified.
    
    
• Get value data: Allows the preference item to be applied if the registry value exists and matches the specified value type. Additionally, saves the value data for that registry value to the specified environment variable.
  
  

Hive

The registry hive for the value or key to be matched.

	Note
	You can click the Browse button in the targeting item to select an existing registry hive, key path, and value.

Key path

The registry key to be matched, omitting the hive name.

	Note
	The Key Path box accepts preference processing variables. Press F3 to display a list of variables from which you can select.

Value name

The value name to be matched. To specify the default value for the key, select the Default name check box.

	Notes
	The Value name box accepts preference processing variables. Press F3 to display a list of variables from which you can select. This option is available only if the match type is Value exists, Match value data, Decimal format, Substring match, Version match, or Get value data.

Value type

The value type to be matched. To disregard the value type, select Any.

	Note
	This option is available only if the match type is Value exists, Match value data, Decimal format, Substring match, Version match, or Get value data.

Value data

The value data to be matched.

	Note
	This option is available only if the match type is Match value data, Decimal format, or Substring match.

Variable name

The name of the environment variable to which the registry value data is saved if the targeting item allows the preference item to be applied.

	Note
	This option is available only if the match type is Get value data.

Version range

A version range to compare to the period-delimited or comma-delimited version string in the value data for the specified registry value. Each version segment must be greater than or equal to zero and less than or equal to 65535.

For example, to specify a version greater than or equal to 1.0 but less than 8.5.1, select >=, type 1 in the box on the left (replacing the first 0), select <, and replace the first three zeros in the box on the right with 8, 5, and 1.

	This option is available only if the match type is Version match.
